Violet Souls by Abbey MacMunn

Title: Violet Souls
Series: The Evoxian Legacies: #1
Author: Abbey MacMunn
Genre: Fantasy Romance

While searching for clues to her past, shy single mum, Bree Mills discovers a subculture of aliens with supernatural abilities living on Earth.

And she’s one of them.

Finding herself hurled into a world of possibilities, it’s made more alluring by Quinn Taylor, the violet-eyed Evoxian from her childhood dreams.

324-year-old Quinn knows his destiny is entwined with Bree’s, but before he can confess his love, he must wait for her to sense the Akui, a mysterious force tied with ancient Evoxian law.

At a Cotswolds country manor, passions awaken and ignite a love more magical than the once-Utopian planet, Evox. Then Fate delivers a cruel and heart-breaking blow when Bree is kidnapped by a malicious alien who wants her and her power.

Will Quinn still love her when she’s faced with protecting her half-human daughter… whatever the cost?

“Crap!” she yelped as hot water splashed over the cup and scolded her fingers.
Quinn lowered the towel and looked up, surprise flashing across his rugged features.
Bree flicked her wrist and shook her hand to get the scolding water off.
In less than a second, he stood right beside her and took her hand. “Did you burn yourself?”
Quinn’s half-naked body this close to hers heated parts of her body far more than her scolded fingers. Shower gel and orange-scented shampoo mingled with raw testosterone, bombarded her senses with sizzling anticipation.
Desire percolated inside. Words blurted out before Bree could stop them. “You distracted me.” Her eyes rounded and tiny hot needles pricked her cheeks, but still she carried on, stuttering like a brainless idiot. “I…I came in to borrow a few teabags, and…and…you were in the shower.” She swallowed, feigned control over her body’s reactions. “Tea. I’m making tea. Do you want one?”
To make matters worse, he chuckled, obviously finding her impression of a jittery, tongue-tied teenager amusing. “I’d love a cup of tea,” he told her, his gravelly tone mocking, but still so sexy it made her insides fizz. “If you’re all right to make it.”
She pulled her hand away from his clasp. “I’m perfectly capable of making a cup of tea, thank you very much.”
Intense amethyst eyes darkened, fixated on hers as he leaned in closer and dropped his hypnotic voice to a whisper. “Clearly you can’t. But I’m glad you’re here, my kekashi.”
Her belly did a backflip as she got a sudden inkling of what the word might mean. Desire intensified, burned like liquid fire through her veins. “What does kekashi m—?” His finger pressed against her lips. She could hardly breathe. Her gaze lowered to his mouth; full, well-defined lips she yearned to touch, to taste, to savour. Her heart leapt into frenzied palpitations. Her body quivered like a virgin bride. And she might as well be a virgin with all the sexual experience she’d had. Once, that’s all. And it hadn’t been exploding fireworks either. Nothing like this.
Quinn stepped closer, his half-naked body inches from hers. Heat radiated off him. “You want to know what kekashi means?” Fingertips traced the outline of her mouth, which, despite her best effort, parted beneath his touch. He licked those kissable lips of his, as though nervous, or hesitant. “It’s an Evoxian term of endearment.”
