Blood Phase by Kirsten Campbell
Blood Phase follows on seamlessly from book one, and we rejoin Griffin, Tassta, Lerin and all, in the continuing story.
Once again the characters are well-fleshed out and have their own personalities, and are like friends I've known for years. I feel their love, fear, confusion, frustration, and sorrow, and my heart goes out to them.
The descriptive writing draws you in and keeps you there through all the twists, turns, and action, and doesn't let go until you turn the last page.
I am eager to read the next book and discover what happens next.
November 12, 2052: Earth has lost two-thirds of its population to the Great War. Many more lives have been lost to earthquakes, the Clover Virus, and the Death Plague. Years later, survivors are clumped into factions. Two of those factions—the Brotherhood and the Guild Faction—have battled over medical supplies and food for years. The fight is coming to a head as manpower dwindles and the struggle becomes one to gain numbers, even if said numbers are children…
Griffin Storm, an albino man kidnapped and dragged into the Brotherhood, has transformed into a G.O.D., a Genetically enhanced Omni-dimensional being. Two weeks in the brig, and Griffin’s released after it’s determined that he’s learned to control most of his god-like abilities. His abilities have grown almost as much as his love for Tassta Vinetti and his unfortunate blood lust. His bond with Tassta’s twin brother, Penn, has grown as well and is cemented in secrets.
Soon after his release, Griffin’s told that Guild agents and the notorious Trips (super-agents of the Guild) are in the Underground. He must now test his abilities to save the abandoned children that live there. Will Griffin rescue the children of the Underground from a tragic end? Will Tassta and Griffin’s love survive such turmoil? Can a G.O.D. forgive himself when death and destruction follow his every move? Read Blood Phase, the gripping second book in the G.O.D.s Series!
Kirsten was abandoned by her Jamaican father and German mother at six-years-old and she survived a devastating childhood. She found strength and courage through reading and writing and she graduated, got married and raised four wonderful children. She also cared for several children that were abandoned by their parents and by society, (a few were literally left on her doorstep.) She fed and clothed them and sent them to school and taught them to be upstanding, decent members of society.
Kirsten wrote the G.O.D.s Series several years ago. The series started out as four books and has grown to five. Blood Master-Book 1 of the G.O.D.s Series is available in Adult/Young Adult. Blood Phase-Book 2 of the G.O.D.s Series will be available in Adult/New Adult. All five books deal with Griffin Storm's life, a hero with feet of clay and a heart of gold that ends up at the Brotherhood fortress in Atlanta, Georgia. He lives there and falls in love with Tassta Vinetti, a Guardian of the fortress. It's soon discovered that he is the prophesied Blood Master, and that he will transform into a G.O.D., a genetically-enhanced omni dimensional being, a being that can manipulate glass, crystal and control materials in several dimensions at once. Once transformed he will also have the ability to call demons from hell and angels from heaven, only he has to learn to control his abilities or he could very well destroy the earth. So he remains in the brig, where he can practice controlling his abilities until he can do as the prophecy says, save everyone at the fortress from the Guild Faction, (a tyrannical organization in 2052) and eventually, save all the children of Underground Atlanta from abandonment and neglect.
Kirsten's short story, “Dark Matters”, was published in Bewildering Stories and a character from the G.O.D.s Series made a special appearance in that story. Said character appears in the second book of the G.O.D.s Series, “Blood Phase" due out February 2017, and the third book, "Blood Rage,” which is due out in late 2017.
As a side note, Kirsten is a part of several anthologies: Chocolate & Diamonds for the Woman's Soul, an international best seller (2015), and Gems of Strength by Metamorph Publishing (2016) and Through the Darkness: Stories of Hope (2016) . Ladybug Press published her chapbook, “Poetry from the Covert Bourgeoisie,” in 2006 and her chapbook, “The Abandoning Kind,” was published by Pudding House Publications in 2009. She lives in Brewster, NY., with her feisty daughters and her five unbelievably beautiful grandchildren!
