Brilliant Disguise

Detective Charlie McClung no longer finds his job fulfilling and has given up finding that "someone" his granny promised he would find. So he leaves behind the big city and his close-knit family and takes a job in a small town police department in Georgia, resigned to live a quiet life in solitude.

Things change when he meets Marian Selby while investigating the mysterious death of her best friend. But Marian swore never to love again after the death of her husband 11 years ago. What seems to be a suicide turns into a tangled web of deceit, corruption, and complicated shadows.

Can the two of them come to grips with their feelings for each other before the killer closes in on them?

What people are saying about Brilliant Disguise.

"Brilliant Disguise is first-rate mystery that harkens you back to the days of Agatha Christie. You’ll feel a sense of nostalgia as you immerse yourself in the story, investigating alongside Det. McClung and eagerly awaiting clues at every turn. It’s an edge-of-your-seat whodunit!”
~Monique Michelle Mason, Author of Moving at the Speed of Single

"I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Charlie McClung and Marion. A brilliantly written murder mystery. Ms. Edwards infused humor into the serious plot and sweet developing romance. She had me laughing several times within the first few pages. The plot had me engaged the entire time. This was a straight read through for me;, I didn't want to put the book down! A couple little twists near the end were unexpected. Great read, well edited, and worthy of a five star review."

What I think about Brilliant Disguise.

Mystery and romance rolled up into one story. The characters are well developed and colourful. The descriptions and detail drew me in. The book was intriguing, well-written, and kept me guessing until the end.

A Good Girl
For Charlie McClung, going home to Virginia with Marian was supposed to be a joyous occasion, but upon arrival at his childhood home, he’s met with a note instead of his family.

“Don’t worry, Love, we’re all okay. Come to the shop. A dead girl was found in an armoire delivered just now. Huggies, Ma”

Charlie is quickly recruited to help solve the murder of a young girl who was on the path to becoming a nun. The suspects begin to mount as Charlie delves deep into the girl’s life, revealing a sordid and ugly side of the town’s good girl.

What people are saying about A Good Girl.

“Is there anything more fun to read than a book that’s equal parts captivating mystery and charming romance? A GOOD GIRL will keep you on the edge of your seat guessing and will warm you to your bones as Marian and Charlie, meant for each other, race to the end. I couldn’t put it down.”
~ Gretchen Archer, USA Today Bestselling author of the Davis Way Crime Capers

“This fast-paced mystery is so captivating and well written it draws you in from the beginning! Strong, vibrant characters and a gripping plot, will keep you wanting more and reading until the very end. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in this terrific series.”

What I think about A Good Girl.

The second book in the series picks up soon after the first, with another crime and another mystery. It introduces us to Charlie's extended family who were fun and likable. The introduction of so many new characters was done in such a way as to not overwhelm you. Each book could be read as a stand-alone mystery because you are not left hanging, but you wouldn't have the background or see the love developing between Charlie & Marian. Another well-written mystery, although this time I did have the suspect pegged before the end.

Criminal Kind

It’s the perfect setting for a romantic getaway at sea: Caribbean breezes, clear blue skies, passionate nights, and murder? Not exactly what Detective Charlie McClung and Marian had in mind for their honeymoon. When one of their fellow passengers is murdered on her 35th wedding anniversary, Charlie and Marian get pulled into the investigation. Who would want to kill poor Tammy Ferguson in such a brutal way? As Charlie uncovers more sordid details about Tammy and her husband, Peter, it becomes clear that someone else has found the same skeletons in the Ferguson’s closet and Tammy has paid the price. Is Peter next?

Trapped on the ship with an insidious killer, shadows seem more ominous and even the most innocent faces seem sinister. Has Charlie inadvertently put Marian in harm’s way? How long does Charlie have before the hunter becomes the hunted?

What people are saying about Criminal Kind.
“Marian and Charlie McClung are the best crime fighting couple since Jennifer and Jonathan Hart. CRIMINAL KIND, the third in this wonderful series, is like taking a vacation. A vacation with murder. The setting is gorgeous, the mystery masterful, and if you think you know whodunit, you'll never guess how. I'm a huge fan.”
~ Gretchen Archer, Author of the USA Today Bestselling Davis Way Crime Caper Series

"Oh, the shenanigans! Charlie and Marian's honeymoon with a touch of murder kept me entertained to the very last page. Kick back, pour an umbrella drink, and tag along with the delightful McClungs as they track down an ingenious cruise ship killer."
~ Alice Loweecey, Author of the Giulia Driscoll mysteries

“The story leads you through a maze not of who done it, but of who would have. Marian and Charlie do it again ... balancing their love for each other while hunting down a truly creative and diabolical killer.”
~ Marlene Patterson, A Cozy Girl Reads
